St. John’s Herr Estate Resident Celebrates 100th Birthday

St. John’s Herr Estate resident Harlan Eye celebrated his 100th birthday today with friends and family at the Luthercare senior living community in Columbia.

Harlan shared photos and mementos from his childhood as he marked the milestone, marveling at the occasion. He was congratulated by state Sen. Ryan Aument, who also attended the party.


109-year-old Luther Acres resident says happiness is key to long life

Miriam “Mim” Moore celebrates turning 109 years old at Luther Acres in Lititz.

Luther Acres resident Miriam “Mim” Moore, born January 28, 1907, was 1 year old when the first Model T was introduced. She was 5 years old when the Titanic sunk, 21 when penicillin was discovered, 34 when Pearl Harbor was attacked, 62 when man landed on the moon, and 93 when the world celebrated the millennium. Having just turned 109 – yes, 109 – her answer to the secret of living a long life is simple: “Just be happy!”


Spang Crest Celebrates the Birthdays of Two Centenarians in June

Margaret FesslerOn Tuesday, June 25, Margaret Fessler celebrated her 100th birthday with family, friends and team members of Spang Crest (a Luthercare community), 945 Duke Street, Lebanon, where Margaret is a resident. Margaret was born in Lebanon in 1913 to the late U. Grant and Emma Zellers. She was the 10th of 13 children and grew up on a farm in North Lebanon.


Esther Schwartz Celebrates 100th Birthday

On Sunday, March 18, 2012, Esther Schwartz, a resident of Luther Acres (a Luthercare community located in Lititz), observes her 100th birthday. She was the second of five children and one of three girls. John and Clara Hambright were farmers and their farm was located where the Lancaster Country Club is now.
