When internationally known, Lancaster-based artist Freiman Stoltzfus started the popular Luthercare Artist-in-Residence program, the goal was to spark the residents’ interest inart further. While the program has evolved since it began nearly five years ago, Freiman says the one thing that remains unchanged is the unbridled joy that art and creativityinspires in residents.

Ruth Lohmeyer and Terri Wible are trying some new gardening methods at Luther Acres, the Luthercare senior living community in Lititz. Both Luther Acres residents, they are experimenting with different ways of gardening that bring many benefits to the garden.

Annual Strawberry Festival to be Held at Luther Acres Campus

The Annual Strawberry Festival is scheduled for Saturday, June 9, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Luther Acres, the Luthercare community at 600 East Main Street, Lititz. Strawberries, ice cream and shortcakes will be $4.00 each, and hot dogs, chips and drinks will be $3.00. The Strawberry Festival will be held on the lawn in front of the Luther Acres Healthcare Center, rain or shine.

The Strawberry Festival is an annual fundraiser that supports the charitable activities of the Luther Acres Residents’ Council. The festival is also a fundraiser of the Friends of Luther Acres auxiliary.

Luther Acres to Host Wellness Fair and Open House

Luther Acres, the Luthercare senior living community in Lititz, will host its 7th annual Wellness Fair and Open House on Thursday, April 26. The day features educational seminars from 8:30 a.m. until 1:15 p.m.; an Open House from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; and a health fair from 11:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The health fair, with the theme “There’s No Clowning Around When It Comes to Good Health!,” will take place in the Community Room at the Luther Acres Towne Center, at 250 St. Luke Drive, Lititz, and seminars will take place in and around the Towne Center.

Luther Acres, a Luthercare community, 600 E. Main St., Lititz, is offering a variety of courses for its Spring 2018 "reDiscover A World of Possibilities" program. The courses are one day a week, and some cover a two-, three-, four- or six-week period. All are open to the greater community. The courses are held on the Luther Acres campus and have varying fees for residents and non-residents; some courses are free to attend. The purpose of the "reDiscover" program is to provide an opportunity to learn new things, be creative, enrich minds and have fun!

Luthercare Awarded Lancaster County Community Foundation Grants

Luthercare recently received a $40,000 grant from the Lancaster County Community Foundation through its Creative Solutions Matching Program. The award supports Systems Aligned in Learning (SAIL). SAIL is a four-partner collaborative focused on preschool children cared for by home-based child care providers in Lancaster County. SAIL partners regularly visit providers’ homes to deliver services and resources, free of charge, with the goal of closing the achievement gap between the children in their care and peers enrolled in quality center-based care.

Celebrating the Holidays at Luthercare Communities

Christmas is a joy-filled season at Luthercare’s three senior living communities – with beautifully trimmed trees, twinkling lights, colorful wreaths and plenty of special events and activities for residents and their families.

At St. John’s Herr Estate in Columbia and Luther Acres in Lititz, residents took part in annual Christmas Gala celebrations, featuring delicious holiday hors d’oeuvres and sweet treats, while seasonal music filled the air. The Gala at St. John’s Herr Estate was held on Wednesday evening, December 14; the Luther Acres Gala followed the next evening.
