The Evolution of Luthercare's Artist-in-Residence Program

When internationally known, Lancaster-based artist Freiman Stoltzfus started the popular Luthercare Artist-in-Residence program, the goal was to spark the residents’ interest inart further. While the program has evolved since it began nearly five years ago, Freiman says the one thing that remains unchanged is the unbridled joy that art and creativityinspires in residents.

Ruth Lohmeyer and Terri Wible are trying some new gardening methods at Luther Acres, the Luthercare senior living community in Lititz. Both Luther Acres residents, they are experimenting with different ways of gardening that bring many benefits to the garden.


Luther Acres Resident Celebrates 100th Birthday

On Tuesday, January 23, Kathryn Zug, a resident of Luther Acres, Lititz, reached a milestone birthday. She turned 100 years old! 


Card Shower Planned to Celebrate Luther Acres Resident Turning 111

Can you imagine the things Miriam “Mim” Moore has seen in her nearly 111 years? The supercentenarian, a resident of Luther Acres, the Luthercare community in Lititz, will celebrate her 111th birthday on January 28! As a lifelong card player, we would love to shower her with birthday cards. Mim plays cards daily at Luther Acres Healthcare Center, in addition to attending exercise group, bingo, music programs, art class, parties and socials. 


Explore St. John’s Herr Estate, Luther Acres during Open House

Join us for a taste of life at St. John’s Herr Estate and Luther Acres during Lancaster County’s countywide “Explore Retirement Living” Open House on Saturday, October 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. In addition, St. John’s Herr Estate host an “Autumn Taste and Tour” open house on Friday, October 20, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.


St. John’s Herr Estate Resident Celebrates 100th Birthday

St. John’s Herr Estate resident Harlan Eye celebrated his 100th birthday today with friends and family at the Luthercare senior living community in Columbia.

Harlan shared photos and mementos from his childhood as he marked the milestone, marveling at the occasion. He was congratulated by state Sen. Ryan Aument, who also attended the party.


Fall Fest

St. John’s Herr Estate’s “Fall Fest” will host a huge indoor yard sale and bake sale on Saturday, September 16th from 8:00AM until 2:00PM. Items for sale at reasonable prices include: household goods, holiday decorations, soft goods, jewelry, wreaths, hand-made items, books, CD’s, picture frames, tools, and other items too numerous to mention.  

Food, including homemade desserts, soup, sandwiches and beverages will be available for purchase as well. There is plenty of free parking at the building located at 200 Luther Lane, Columbia. Rain or shine!


Registration Opens for Luthercare for Kids’ Summer Enrichment Series

A chef. A composer. An engineer. At Luthercare for Kids’ Summer Enrichment Series,your children can be all of these! They can spend a week – or the whole summer – focusing on science, art, foods, the outdoors and more! Our fun and educational summer series, for kindergarten through school-age children, is taught by experienced teachers in a safe, supervised environment at our Luthercare for Kids locations in Columbia and Reamstown in Lancaster County and in Annville and Lebanon in Lebanon County.
