7th Annual Red, White and Blueberry Jamboree at St. John’s Herr Estate

The 7th Annual Red, White and Blueberry Jamboree will be held on Saturday, May 14, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the campus of St. John’s Herr Estate, the Luthercare community at 200 Luther Lane, Columbia. The festivities, which kick off the senior living community’s 25th anniversary celebration, will feature the famous 300-pound blueberry pie as well as the wildlife program “Critters Beyond Your Backyard” by WGAL’s Jack Hubley at 1 p.m.

Luther Acres Offers Spring Courses

Luther Acres, a Luthercare community, 600 E. Main St., Lititz, is offering a variety of courses for its Spring 2016 "reDiscover A World of Possibilities" program. The courses are one day a week, and some cover a three-, four- or six-week period. All are open to the greater community. Most courses are held on the Luther Acres campus and have varying fees for residents and non-residents. The purpose of the "reDiscover" program is to provide an opportunity to learn new things, be creative, enrich minds and have fun!

Luther Acres Hosts “Don’t Gamble with Your Health” Wellness Fair

Luther Acres, the Luthercare community in Lititz, will host its 5th annual Health and Wellness Fair on Thursday, April 28. The day features educational seminars from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and a health fair from 11:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The health fair, with the theme “Don’t Gamble with Your Health,” will take place in the Luther Acres Towne Center, at 250 St. Luke Drive, Lititz, and seminars will take place in and around the Towne Center. The day’s events are open to the public, and there is no charge to attend.

Spang Crest plans Community Celebration

109-year-old Luther Acres resident says happiness is key to long life

Miriam “Mim” Moore celebrates turning 109 years old at Luther Acres in Lititz.

Luther Acres resident Miriam “Mim” Moore, born January 28, 1907, was 1 year old when the first Model T was introduced. She was 5 years old when the Titanic sunk, 21 when penicillin was discovered, 34 when Pearl Harbor was attacked, 62 when man landed on the moon, and 93 when the world celebrated the millennium. Having just turned 109 – yes, 109 – her answer to the secret of living a long life is simple: “Just be happy!”

Introducing Luthercare's Marketing Manager - Supportive Living

Melissa Waltman joined the Luthercare team as Marketing Manager – Supportive Living in October. She will provide strategic marketing support for the supportive living components of Luthercare: Personal Care and Skilled Nursing Care. She comes to us having dedicated the past 15 years to working with older adults and their families as they transition from independent living to more supportive living environments in personal care, dementia care and skilled nursing care. She is a Certified Senior Advisor and a licensed Personal Care Home Administrator.

Luthercare for Kids - Helping Children in Lancaster be Kindergarten-Ready

Luthercare for Kids – Lancaster is part of a collaborative project that will provide free pre-kindergarten to children within the School District of Lancaster’s George Washington Elementary School’s attendance zone. “The Learning Lancaster Collaborative” is part of the United Way of Lancaster’s Collaborative Impact Partnerships.

21st Annual Tee it Up for Kids! Golf Tournament

It was a beautiful day for golf on September 14 at the Bent Creek Country Club, Lititz, where 128 golfers spent the afternoon teeing it up for kids in support of the Luthercare for Kids Scholarship Fund. Robert Brandt, Jr., Chairman and Founder of Benchmark Construction (the event’s Tournament Sponsor), welcomed a field of generous individuals, corporate sponsors, Luthercare residents and team members all vying for first place in the 21st annual Tee it Up for Kids! Golf Tournament.
