Luther Acres Hosts “Be A Wizard of Good Health!” Wellness Fair and Open House

Luther Acres, the Luthercare senior living community in Lititz, will host its 6th annual Wellness Fair and Open House on Thursday, April 27. The day features educational seminars from 8:30 a.m. until 1:15 p.m.; an Open House from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; and a health fair from 11:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. The health fair, with the theme “Be A Wizard of Good Health!,” will take place in the Community Room at the Luther Acres Towne Center, at 250 St. Luke Drive, Lititz, and seminars will take place in and around the Towne Center. The day’s events are open to the public, and there is no charge to attend.

The Open House will feature an opportunity to tour beautifully renovated one-bedroom apartments in the Luther Townhome Apartment Building and to chat with Sales Counselors and learn more about the vibrant lifestyle at Luther Acres.

Health Fair attendees can visit with more than 35 vendors who will be ready to answer health-related questions and provide various screenings, including bone density, blood sugar, circulation and sleep apnea. Chair massages and health food tastings will also be available.

The small-group educational seminars will feature 15 presenters speaking on the latest information about preventative health. The seminars focus on a range of topics.

The schedule and locations for the day’s seminars:

8:30-9:15 a.m.

“How to Stay Young for the First 100 Years” (Wellness Center). Led by Chiropractic 1st.
“Sleep Apnea and the Benefits of PAP Therapy” (Theater). Led by Lehigh Valley Respiratory Care.
“Dealing with Hearing Loss” (Chapel). Led by Zounds Hearing. – This seminar will describe how hearing loss occurs, the health risks of not addressing hearing loss, and communication tips for dealing with a person with hearing loss. 

9:30-10:15 a.m.

“If You or a Loved One is Having a Stroke, You Need to Act F.A.S.T." (Wellness Center). Led by Heart of Lancaster/Lancaster Regional Medical Center/Warwick Community Ambulance. – You will learn the warning signs of a stroke and preventative care.
“Volunteering is Good for You & Your community” (Theater). Led by Lancaster Lebanon Habitat for Humanity. – The focus will be on the new upcoming Habitat for Humanity project in Lititz and discuss the various ways volunteering makes people and their communities happier, stronger and healthier.
“I Talked about Death…and It Didn’t Kill Me” (Chapel). Led by PA Link to Aging and Disability Resources.

10:30-11:15 a.m.

“Introduction to Services from OVR, Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services” (Wellness Center). Led by the Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation’s Bureau of Blindness & Visual Services
“Circulation: The Foundation of Good Health” (Theater). Led by Bemer Group. – Come learn about the significance that small vessels have on our bodies and a device that enhances their function.
“Three Reasons Why It’s Critical to Preplan Your Arrangements” (Chapel). Led by Charles F. Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory & Spacht-Snyder Family Funeral Home & Crematory.

11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m.

“Fall Prevention” (Wellness Center). Led by HealthPRO Rehabilitation.
“How to Add Life to Your Years” (Theater). Led by Maclary Family Chiropractic – The focus of this seminar is on how and why chiropractic increases quality of life for all ages.
“Supporting the Bereaved” (Chapel). Led by Hospice & Community Care. 

12:30 – 1:15 p.m.

“Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness and YOU!” (Wellness Center). Led by Gift of Life Donor Program.
"Healthy Feet Are Happy Feet” (Theater). Led by Martin Foot & Ankle. – This presentation will focus on common foot and ankle aliments commonly seen and identify treatment regiments for those conditions.
“YOUR BRAIN + GOOD CARE = ONE HEALTHY BRAIN” (Chapel). Led by Geriatric & Dementia Care Consulting, LLC. – This presentation will provide you with information and suggestions about how to take good care of your brains.

The day will also include The Magic of Mike Snyder & Donna, with a strolling performance at the health fair at noon and an evening presentation in the Community Room at 5:30 p.m.
