The residents of St. John’s Herr Estate are preparing for the community’s annual Fall Fest, a day filled with fun, flavor, and fantastic finds. The event features a huge indoor yard sale and bake sale, all under one roof. The sale will feature a wide variety of collectibles and treasures – such as gently-used books and mixed media, puzzles, household items, home décor, jewelry, and more – for a reasonable price. Our talented community bakers are whipping up an array of delectable treats for purchase, along with chicken corn soup, hot dogs, sloppy joes, and beverages. The soup is prepared by the chef at St. John’s Herr Estate and is available to purchase by the bowl or quart, for eat-in or take-out. Admission and parking are free. Cash only accepted. Fall Fest is sponsored by St. John’s Herr Estate’s Residents’ Council. Proceeds from the Council’s fundraisers are donated to local not-for-profit organizations. Situated on a picturesque 48-acre campus, the community offers a variety of independent living cottages and apartments, as well as an on-site personal care community. During the Explore Retirement Living Open House, guests will be able to tour several residences, community spaces, and amenities throughout the campus. One of the featured stops will be the Welcome Center, a fully renovated 710-square-foot, one-bedroom, one-bath apartment. The Welcome Center showcases a variety of paint colors, cabinetry, flooring selections, and design upgrades, providing prospective residents with ideas and inspiration as they explore the various options available at St. John's Herr Estate. Beyond touring residences, visitors will have the opportunity to chat with current residents and team members, ask questions, and gain insight into daily life within the community. Guests can learn more about the many opportunities for social connection, wellbeing, lifelong learning, recreation, volunteerism, and personal enrichment that are available throughout the campus. Residents enjoy the freedom of maintenance-free living, giving them more time to focus on their interests, hobbies, friendships, and activities. They also benefit from the peace of mind that comes with access to on-site personal care services and Luthercare's broader network of care and services should their health needs change over time. Designed for active older adults seeking both independence and peace of mind, the neighborhood offers a variety of floor plans, including both one- and two-story homes. Cottages feature amenities such as contemporary kitchens, spacious living areas, two-car garages, and outdoor living space, and several styles feature versatile loft spaces, fireplaces, and even basements. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour several cottages in the new neighborhood and experience their modern, open-concept designs, allowing guests to compare floor plans and features while envisioning what maintenance-free living could look like for them. The new neighborhood combines the privacy and space of a standalone home with the convenience, community connections, and future healthcare resources available through Luthercare. Residents enjoy access to all of Luther Acres’ amenities, services, and dining venues, along with a wide range of wellbeing, social, educational, and recreational opportunities across campus.
