Incorporation of Lutheran Social Services – East Region’s predecessor body, “Lutheran Service for Older People” (The name was changed to “Lutheran Inner Mission of the Lancaster Conference” in 1954 and to Lutheran Social Service of the Lancaster Conference in 1959.)

1976

Dedication of Luther Townhome Apartments and the Hershey Wing at Luther Acres

1977

Dedication of Spang Crest Nursing Home at 945 Duke Street, Lebanon

1979

Beginning of Family Day Care Homes program in Lebanon County

1980

Completion of Luther Acres Cottage program

1983

Dedication of the Chapel of the Abiding Christ and additional support areas at Spang Crest Nursing Home, 945 Duke Street, Lebanon

1987

Dedication of Personal Care Unit and new Skilled Nursing Care Wing at Luther Acres Acceptance of a 39-acre parcel of land from St. John’s Lutheran Church, Columbia for development of a retirement community

1988

Establishment of affiliation of LSS-ER with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

1989

Groundbreaking for the St. John’s Herr Estate Retirement Community, Columbia

2000

Dedication of Agape Way, the late-stage memory-support residence and program at Luther Acres Dedication of Muhlenberg Apartments, Lodge (personal care, including early-stage memory support), and Cottages, and new physical therapy and activity rooms at Luther Acres Manor Dedication of Grace Place Children’s Center, a cooperative ministry of Grace Lutheran Church, Lancaster, and Luthercare

2001

Dedication of 12 additional cottages at St. John’s Herr Estate Renaming of Child Care Bank of Lebanon County to Child Care Information Services of Lebanon County

2003

Opening of three new child care centers: CAT Child Care and Learning Center at Career and Technology Center, Lebanon; St. John’s Day Care, Columbia; and Reamstown Before- and After-School Program Renaming of Lebanon Valley Child Care and Learning Center, Annville, to Emma C. Berger Child Care and Learning Center

2004

Construction and opening of the Wellness Center at Luther Acres Luthercare celebrates its 55th year anniversary

2005

Construction for Memory Support Center Expansion begins on Spang Crest Manor Dedication of Wellness Center at Luther Acres St. John’s Child Care and Learning Center moved to the former First English Lutheran Church and renamed Columbia Child Care and Learning Center Luthercare became an approved Lutheran Disaster Response(LDR)site

2006

Opening of the Christman Memory Support Center at Spang Crest Manor offering an 18-bed memory care personal care and adult day services program Purchased the Gard farm adjacent to St. John Herr’s Estate Renamed Reamstown Before- and After-School Program to Reamstown Child Care and Learning Center

2007

Dedication of the Willis R. and Helen M.Christman Memory Center at Spang Crest Manor Renamed Grace Place Children’s Center to Grace Place Child Care and Leaning Center

2008

Renovations to the Personal Care residences at St. John’s Herr Estate completed, adding private showers and tea kitchens to each apartment Grand opening of recreation and patio area at Spang Crest

2009

Luthercare celebrates its 60th Anniversary

2010

Luther Acres breaks ground for the new Towne Center

2011

Luther Acres dedicates the new Towne Center, which includes a Community Room, a Pub, The Haagen Gallery, a Store/Gift Shop, the Chapel of the Good Samaritan, a Movie Theater, a Branch Bank and Katy’s Grill Luthercare at Home, an in-home service, is launched on the Luther Acres campus

2012

Luthercare adopts a new mission statement: Luthercare reflects Christ’s Love through Service to Others Focused on the organizational core values of Integrity, Compassion, Learning, Connection and Teamwork, Luthercare evaluates and revitalizes the Corporate Compliance and Ethics program

2013

Luthercare celebrates 65 years of serving Lancaster and Lebanon County children, families and older adults Significant renovations to the Luther Townhome Apartment Building at Luther Acres are completed, featuring a “boutique hotel” design and adding balconies and patios to each apartment

2014

Luthercare engages in a brand refreshing project and develops a new logo, icon and collateral materials reflecting the organization’s goal for each senior living community and early learning center to be a place “Where Potential is Ageless” Working with several community partners, Luthercare conducts a Community Needs Assessment in Lancaster and Lebanon counties to identify emerging needs among children and families and

2015

In partnership with Moravian Manor, Luthercare establishes Your Neighborhood Connection, an in-home services program to provide non-medical services and support Luthercare for Kids is selected to serve as the lead agency for SAIL, Systems Aligned in Learning, a collaborative funded by United Way of Lancaster County to use Luthercare’s Mobile Mentoring Program for in-home child care providers as the foundation for providing expanded support through partners Library System of Lancaster County, COBYS Family Services, Lancaster County Council of Churches, and South Center Regional Key
