Visit both Luther Acres in Lititz and St. John’s Herr Estate in Columbia to tour a variety of beautiful residences, explore community amenities and services, and meet residents who call these vibrant communities home. Whether you’re actively planning for the future or simply exploring your options, this drop-in event offers a welcoming opportunity to see what life at Luthercare is all about.

Luther Acres
One of the highlights of this year’s Explore Retirement Living Open House will be Luther Acres’ newest neighborhood, a collection of 37 newly built, maintenance-free cottages located just steps from downtown Lititz. Designed for active older adults seeking both independence and peace of mind, the neighborhood offers a variety of floor plans, including both one- and two-story homes. Cottages feature amenities such as contemporary kitchens, spacious living areas, two-car garages, and outdoor living space, and several styles feature versatile loft spaces, fireplaces, and even basements.
Visitors will have the opportunity to tour several cottages in the new neighborhood and experience their modern, open-concept designs, allowing guests to compare floor plans and features while envisioning what maintenance-free living could look like for them.
The new neighborhood combines the privacy and space of a standalone home with the convenience, community connections, and future healthcare resources available through Luthercare. Residents enjoy access to all of Luther Acres’ amenities, services, and dining venues, along with a wide range of wellbeing, social, educational, and recreational opportunities across campus. They also benefit from the peace of mind that comes with being part of a continuing care retirement community.
Attendees do not need to pre-register. On the day of the event, follow signs for parking and registration at the Towne Center. When you register, you will receive a packet of information and a map to tour at your own pace. Shuttle service will be available.
St. John’s Herr Estate
At St. John’s Herr Estate in Columbia, visitors will have the opportunity to experience firsthand the maintenance-free lifestyle and vibrant community atmosphere that residents enjoy every day. Situated on a picturesque 48-acre campus, the community offers a variety of independent living cottages and apartments, as well as an on-site personal care community. During the Explore Retirement Living Open House, guests will be able to tour several residences, community spaces, and amenities throughout the campus.
One of the featured stops will be the Welcome Center, a fully renovated 710-square-foot, one-bedroom, one-bath apartment. The Welcome Center showcases a variety of paint colors, cabinetry, flooring selections, and design upgrades, providing prospective residents with ideas and inspiration as they explore the various options available at St. John’s Herr Estate.
Beyond touring residences, visitors will have the opportunity to chat with current residents and team members, ask questions, and gain insight into daily life within the community. Guests can learn more about the many opportunities for social connection, wellbeing, lifelong learning, recreation, volunteerism, and personal enrichment that are available throughout the campus.
Residents enjoy the freedom of maintenance-free living, giving them more time to focus on their interests, hobbies, friendships, and activities. They also benefit from the peace of mind that comes with access to on-site personal care services and Luthercare’s broader network of care and services should their health needs change over time.
The open house offers prospective residents an opportunity to see not only where they could live, but how they could live, surrounded by meaningful experiences, supportive services, and a welcoming community. Tours will begin at the Apartment Building’s Independent Living entrance.
