Luthercare is pleased to announce that Sandy Nunemaker is an honoree for LeadingAge PA’s 2020 Distinguished Service Awards! Sandy – who serves as Resident Care Aide in Personal Care at Luther Acres – was nominated for the Caregiver of the Year ‐ Direct Care Distinguished Service Award.
Since joining Luthercare in 2014, Sandy has shown a commitment to making an impact on the community she serves. She has further developed her clinical skills, modeled compassionate care, demonstrated leadership abilities, and made meaningful connections with residents and staff alike.
After beginning her employment at Luther Acres, a Luthercare community in Lititz, Sandy became certified to administer medications; to complete diabetic care, including insulin and blood sugar testing; and in our Dementia Capable Care training. She is also a “super user” for our electronic medical records system, being able to move through the system quickly and effectively and sharing hints and tips with fellow colleagues. Sandy is an integral part of the team on our secured dementia unit, where she cares for 26 individuals at varying stages of memory loss. Her patience and willingness to meet our residents where they are is truly outstanding.
The Distinguished Service Awards Program, established in 1973, encourages LeadingAge PA members to nominate individuals and organizations that enhance the field of aging services through their involvement, innovation, leadership, or advocacy, as well as personal and organizational generosity.
