When the pandemic began, making sure our communities were clean and safe for residents became even more of a heightened priority. One of the people making sure that was possible was Toni DeGroat, our Custodian at St. John’s Herr Estate, whom we would like to introduce for this week’s “Meet the Team Tuesday.”
Toni has been with St. John’s Herr Estate since 2018, starting as a part-time housekeeper. Later that year, a full-time custodian position became available, and she transitioned into that role, where she remains today. Toni is responsible for day-to-day cleaning operations of the apartment building, offices, common areas, activity rooms, hallways, lounges, and more. The pandemic has put extra emphasis on frequently cleaning highly-touched areas in the community, such as hand rails, and it’s one of the first things Toni does when she arrives each day.
When asked what she likes most about her job, Toni said that she loves to clean and appreciates that she is praised for the work she does every day. She recognizes the importance of her work and considers her role to be marketing as well, noting that “people are drawn in by how our building looks, inside and out.”
Thank you Toni for all of your hard work to keep our residents safe!
