Luthercare Issues COVID-19 Update: 3/16/2020

The residents we serve are the most vulnerable population to coronavirus (COVID-19). While our communities do not have any suspected or diagnosed cases of the virus, Luthercare has taken many careful measures to ensure the health and safety of our residents and team members.

We are working closely with our medical directors and will follow the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Following those guidelines, we are restricting all visitors to our campuses and screening all team members prior to the start of their shift. We regret having to implement this policy, but it is the prudent position for us to take at this time. Our dedicated staff is making every effort to ensure residents and their loved ones communicate via virtual connections, whether through telephone, video or the web. We will lift the restriction on visitors as soon as it is safe for our residents and team members to do so.

We’ve also made the difficult decision to restrict dining at campus restaurants and dining rooms. Instead, we’ll be providing meal takeout or in-room delivery options to our residents and team members.

We have also canceled or postponed all public, on-campus group events, activities and meetings through April 30. We will continue to monitor and evaluate this policy as needed.

How can the greater community help? Please be patient and understanding. The measures and policies we are putting in place are to protect your family members, friends and loved ones. If you want to deliver groceries, toiletries or other items to your loved one, we request that you please make arrangements with staff to do so.

We ask those in the community to follow CDC guidelines for protecting yourself. Please wash your hands often, limit close contact with others, and take proper precautions. We also encourage you to reach out to our Executive Director or Administrator if you have additional questions.

Please continue to follow the latest information regarding COVID-19 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html, and from the Pennsylvania Department of Health at https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/Pages/Coronavirus.aspx
