Luther Acres Healthcare Center, a Luthercare community, 600 E. Main Street, Lititz, recently received its Medicare recertification by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Luther Acres Healthcare Center provides both short term and long-term skilled nursing and rehabilitation.

Luther Acres Chef's Recipe in Senator Brubaker's Cookbook

Chad Sweigart, Executive Chef Manager at Luther Acres, Lititz, recently had his recipe added to the PA Hunger Garden Cookbook. When Chad Sweigart, Luthercare Executive Chef Manager, submitted his original recipe of Seared Salmon with Garden Vegetables Ragu, for Senator Brubaker’s PA Hunger Garden Cookbook, he wasn’t sure what to expect. The recipe had to promote healthy eating at all ages, according to the submission rules. The Senator’s office was accepting all recipes submitted, but in the case of duplicates, the first one received would be the one printed.

Miriam Moore Hits Milestone of 105 Years of Age

Miriam MooreMiriam Moore is the oldest resident at St. John's Herr Estate, a Luthercare community located in Columbia. On Saturday, January 28, 2012, Miriam, better known as Mim, turned 105. Mim was the fifth of six children born to Mathias and Ellen Teufel. A Columbia resident her whole life, Mim has fond memories of playing tag and hide-and-go-seek with a nice group of children who lived nearby.

Cora Rodkey Celebrates 100th Birthday

Cora RodkeyOn Monday, January 23, 2012, Cora Rodkey, a resident of St. John's Herr Estate (a Luthercare community located in Columbia), observed her 100th birthday.  She was the sixth of seven children born to Cora and Richard Hildebrand. Her parents were tenant farmers, moving three times before Cora married.

Luther Acres Offers Winter Courses

Luther Acres, a Luthercare community, 600 E. Main Street, Lititz, is offering a variety of courses as part of their "reDiscover A World of Possibilities" program. The courses are one day a week over a 3 or 4-week period and are open to residents, friends, family and the greater community. All of the courses are on the Luther Acres campus and there are fees for residents and non-residents for each course. The purpose of the reDiscover program is to provide an opportunity to learn new things, be creative, enrich minds and have fun.
